What is the life of your body like?

Would you like to have more energy? Feel more alive and vibrant? How about a consistent fitness routine?  Most of us would. So what’s blocking our energetic flow? Is it the “must have been something I ate” story again? That’s part of it for sure. And there is also the developed habit of how we treat our bodies, and relationship with food & physical fitness. Where do we begin?

Let’s start with exercise. Exercise is what burns energy and speeds up the metabolism. Muscles control your metabolism. There are three main benefits to building muscle:

  • Fat is burned in muscle.
  • One pound of muscle is three times smaller than one pound of fat.
  • Each pound of muscle burns 30-50 calories per day.

This means that the purpose of exercising is to activate each muscle fiber in order to achieve an efficient metabolism. Increased muscle equals accelerated fat burning.

I’m going to share with you a very cool exercise that helps develop muscle tone and burns fat. That exercise is, power walking.

Power walking exercises more muscles in the body than regular running, and its low impact. It enhances cardio vascular health and skeletal health. It helps burn fat and builds muscle. It forces calcium magnesium into the long bones, which can prevent osteoporosis.  It’s also great for clearing the mind and building endorphins; in addition power walking builds the immune system and helps to rid the body of toxins.

Let’s go into a bit more detail:

Improved Health

When adhering to a consistent exercise routine, (at least 4 times per week), power walking can help raise good cholesterol levels and lower bad cholesterol levels.  Cardio vascular exercises like power walking help to lower high blood pressure and decrease the risk of  illnesses like type 2 diabetes, some cancers or suffering from a stroke.

Healthy Weight Control

Losing weight is one of the advantages of power walking several times a week. Due to the excessive movement of your arms and feet, it is an effective method of burning calories. When walking your head and chest should be held up, which helps to strengthen back muscles and you want to land on your heel and push off on your toe, with lips parted. Power walking is low impact and helps to oxygenate the blood. Set a brisk pace then calculate a reachable challenge to meet, for example, 3 or 4 mph, and continue to set targets once you’ve met the previous one. At this rate you will burn anywhere from 240 to 350 calories depending on your level of energy.

Power walking, combined with a healthy diet can definitely help to shed excess weight.

Stress Management

Stress is a part of everyday living. To eliminate it completely may warrant a scenario of either no pulse, or being the resident of a secluded island. Most of us have accepted some level of stress as being a byproduct of interacting with people, places and things. So how cool is it to know that one session of power walking can help to redirect and neutralize your focus and concern on stressful situations, by releasing endorphins in your brain that induce a relaxed mood and calmer frame of mind? You can gain a better sense of yourself and your surroundings and become better poised to take on higher levels of achievement and productivity. Equipped with a fresh attitude after a power walk, you can manage your stress instead of your stress managing you.

Time Efficient & Economical

Power walking offers a cost free method to meeting your exercise goals without, the expense of a gym membership. It’s as easy as slipping into a pair of sneakers and heading out the door, thirty minutes later for at least 4 days a week and you will reap maximum benefits from the empowering work out practice.

Tip: People with busier schedules can break down a 30 minute power walk into three 10 minute bursts throughout the day.

And for you adventure seekers, power walking allows you to explore outdoor areas and burn fat at the same time! Those of you who are environmentally conscious, can power walk to your intended destinations. You not only decrease the need for a car, you’re also cutting down on gas expenses.
